Working with Carbon Trust
The carbon reduction label provides the carbon measure for each garment. The footprint of a normal large unisex T shirt is between approximately 5–9kg whereas in this range it is approximately 0.682. This is achieved through low impact organic farming, manufactured solely using wind and solar power and is distributed through carbon neutral warehouses in London that use only renewable green energy. The cotton is grown in India that receives 95% of its water from the monsoon rains so there is no need for large scale irrigation. The processing of the dye effluent takes place in a controlled loop purification system that uses treatment ponds, sand filtration and reverse osmosis to convert the waste water into clean water. Each garment with this symbol will include it’s carbon footprint data. This data is a result of working together with the Carbon Trust on a pilot scheme to develop a carbon reduction labeling system to communicate the carbon footprint of garments to buyers.
