{"id":1043,"date":"2019-07-02T13:50:15","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T13:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cottonroots.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1043"},"modified":"2024-04-19T13:43:46","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T13:43:46","slug":"cotton-plant-to-clothing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cottonroots.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1043","title":{"rendered":"Cotton Plant to Clothing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.impacttrading.co.uk\/\">Impact Trading<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cottonroots.co.uk\/\">Cotton Roots<\/a> we sell, make, brand and sew with cotton every day and knowing where and how it\u2019s grown is something that is really important to us.\u00a0 The cotton industry is one of the largest industries around the world and demand is growing all the time especially in the last few decades as the trend of fast fashion has risen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cotton comes from a plant called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gossypium\">Gossypium<\/a> which is grown in hot countries such as India, China and the southern states of the USA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant is\ngrown from seed which takes around 6 months from planting to harvesting.
